Professional surfer Anastasia Ashley first entered the water on a board when she was 6-years-old, and never looked back. The ABC’s Ultimate Surfer star, who won the 2010 and 2019 Pipeline Women’s Pro, holds two National Scholastic Surfing Association championship titles. She made her SI Swimsuit debut in Guana Island in 2014. Ashley was also featured in that year’s October Maxim issue.
“It’s insane to see the progression of women’s swimming, even [compared to] 10 years ago. People [were] telling me to ‘get out of the water, women shouldn’t be out here.’ I’ve heard it all,” she told The Inertia. “The day that I found out surfing was in the olympics for male and female, I cried, because I remember the days that there wasn’t even female events. For me, growing up, I always was super into like, competing to be the best, training, and that required a lot of stuff besides surfing.”
The California-born model has also made a name for herself as a social media influencer and has grown her Instagram following to 1 million.
“I feel the most confident and beautiful when I'm my healthiest, surfing every day and on a great regimen both in and out of the water,” the 36-year-old told E. “Feeling good inside translates to looking good on the outside.”
