A Wave Pool Malfunction In China Created a Tsunami

The incident happened at the popular Shuiyun Water Park, in the Jilin Province in China on July 29.

The shocking footage shows the wall of water rising in size before crashing down onto the dozens of people in the pool.

It then sweeps away the tourists and flips them upside down in the chaos.

Those standing outside the wave pool can be seen running for their lives as they realise the giant wave is going to splash over the barrier.

Screams ring out across the park as the wave smashes over the barrier and knocks people over.

Video taken after the carnage shows a woman lying on the ground injured and bleeding from her legs.

A spokesman for the water park told local media in a brief statement: “It was caused by a mechanical fault. Only around 10 people were injured.

“The wave pool was closed for a day for repairs. It’s already been fixed and will be open tomorrow.”

But officials later said no fewer than 44 people were injured, with three remaining hospitalised with broken bones and serious abrasions.

The park is based in the Yulong Bay Scenic Area, which opened in 2015.
